It takes a village.
Mission.
Back 2 Blacktop is a non-profit initiative dedicated to bridging gaps in communities, schools, and churches through an inclusive, multi-generational approach. Our mission is to empower youth by fostering a supportive community of coaches, where the "village" comes together to help them excel in their passions for Art, Athletics, Academics, and Life's "triple-threat" skills. Our primary focus is on revitalizing the community and enhancing both the physical and mental well-being of youth and young adults.
Vision.
The goal is to create a space that encourages local youth to engage in play, connect with others, and foster positive relationships within their community. Our organization believes that transforming the “blacktop” and other “blank canvas” with vibrant colors and murals will enhance the quality of life and support the growth and development of young people.
Exposure to art has been shown to help children and teens develop valuable skills such as creative thinking, self-awareness, confidence, and emotional expression. Beyond increasing activity in parks and recreational areas, this proposed enhancement will also provide a platform for creative expression, reigniting a sense of pride and unity within the community.
One community at a time.
We believe that (initially) adding art to basketball courts and incorporating other future improvements will unite people, encouraging them to collaborate and enhance the overall well-being of mind, body, and spirit.
And, our process is as simple as …
-
Calling all supporters!
If you believe in our vision for the community, we want you to be part of it.
We’ll be actively involving local community members and alumni from nearby high schools to join us in the clean-up and preparation of the court. It will be a day of celebration with food, drinks, and music—because there’s nothing better than the (collective) power of the arts. <3
-
Calling all former athletes!
We invite you to join our DREAM TEAM of "coaches" as we kick off the effort to help "rebound" our youth. If you’re a local artist with a portfolio of your work, we’d love for you to connect with us at least one month before the planned timeline.
Can you hear your old coach saying, “Together, everyone achieves more?”
-
Calling all community members!
If you've contributed to our efforts, we consider you one of our stakeholders. YESSSSS! I repeat, you are an essential part of one of the most "color-filled" days of the year. It’s time to cut the ribbon, with food, drinks, MUSIC, and games, as we celebrate the FUTURE of our youth. On this day, we want to FEEL the pride in our community. Together, We’ve officially taken the first step toward continued progress!
G-DOUBLE O-D, J-O-B! Good job. GOOD JOB!
